Mesoscopic Modelling

Dynamic assignment that resolves queues, junctions, and time-of-day effects.

Mesoscopic models sit between strategic and microsimulation: individual vehicles on a detailed network, without the calibration burden of full microsimulation. They resolve queuing, junction delay, and the way congestion spreads and clears across a peak.

Method

We extract a subarea from a strategic model, add detailed network and intersection coding, develop origin-destination matrices from turn counts, and calibrate against screenline volumes and observed travel times.

Deliverables

A calibrated Dynameq model, scenario comparisons, and — where the client will operate the model themselves — training so their team can run and interrogate it.
