Freight Modelling

Commercial vehicle demand, intermodal facilities, and heavy vehicle networks.

Freight behaves differently from passenger travel, and modelling it as heavy passenger demand produces confident, wrong answers. Commercial goods and services movements have their own generation logic, time-of-day profile, and route sensitivity.

Method

We develop commercial vehicle and heavy vehicle matrices from survey and count data, model intermodal and industrial precinct access, and assess the network impacts of freight generators against realistic operating assumptions.

Deliverables

Heavy vehicle and commercial demand matrices, precinct access assessment, network impact analysis, and comparison of modelled against expected traffic where an existing forecast is under review.
